Shaloha!

Filed under: Uncategorized — mauimommy @ 1:05 am

I am currently homeschooling my kids on the island of Maui, Hawaii.

I am quite the rookie at homeschooling but I do have 8 years of teaching under my belt and so I am figuring out what works as we go along. This blog is for PreK level and will grow with my kids. I will try inculde as many Jewish resources that I know and that were helpful to me on our journey.

I searched high and low for a “Jewish Homeschool Curriculum” but have not found anything out there. I am pretty much making a curriculum as we go along- using a secular curriculum as our guideline.

I firmly believe that kids learn so much just through observation and daily life. But in regards to Hebrew reading, writing, Parshah (weekly Torah portion), Jewish Holidays, Jewish Customs and Law, it needs to be taught. And so I have begun making worksheets and doing art projects in all these areas which I will post and hopefully it will be helpful to anyone out there in a similar position to me!

I am all for going off on tangents and tapping deeply into specific interests of my kids as we embark on this journey.

Feel free to send me some good ideas of yours!

Looking forward to filling up this blog with interesting, exciting, fun ways to give our kids a rich Jewish Education~
